Questions & Answers On Work From Your Home Ideas

Jim asks…

I’m looking for a “work from home” job any ideas?

Hello,

I’m in the process of making some major changes in my life, and my financial status needs some help. I’m looking for a little job, which I can do from home, or how to start my own little business.

Any ideas? I have searched online, I’m just note sure how legitimate these sites can be.

Thank you for your advice.

Mandy asks…

How do you discourage a local friend from inviting himself over to your home or just dropping by?

I think this person is great, and I value his friendship. However, I am very busy and I work out of home. This friend has a habit of calling and making “spontaneous” requests to stop in for a glass of wine. I always thought it was rather rude to invite yourself to another person’s home? Any ideas on how I can delicately navigate this awkward situation without alienating my acquaintance ?

admin answers:

Tell him sweetly that you have a pile of invoices to type (or whatever you do) and ask if you can call him later to set up a good day to meet for lunch.

Susan asks…

Child care is a huge demand these days. It would be a great

choice for you, if you were up to looking after other people’s

kids for a few hours every week. It brings in extra money and you

can stay home wit.h your child. You don’t sell anything either.

And parents would jump all over the teacher fact too.

I would suggest, however, that if you were to jump that route, to

take a Preparation to Home Child Care course, usually offered at

a local child development centre or child drop-in centre, and to

also have a written contract to protect yourself, the parents,

and the children in your care. As a liability, add liability to

your home insurance. That way if a child were to be injured, and

the parents sue, you don’t pay a ton of money.

Ken asks…

What do you do to work from home?

I have three children (ages just 5, 2 1/2 years, and 4 months). I would love to babysit in my house, but nobody seems to want to have a sitter outside of their homes. What do you to make some extra money from home? Thanks for your ideas?

admin answers:

I work FT from home as a technical writer. I’ve known others who have their own online business or sell stuff on eBay. You can also do web design, or work for the search engine, chacha.com. Some publishers will pay you $3-$5 per page to edit a manuscript.

Check out the work-at-home-mom’s website, http://www.wahm.com for ideas and leads.

Good luck!

Edit: Angel, you can do a search for “freelance manuscript editing” and get a bunch of online companies that frequently hire freelance editors. Check out this site for starters: http://www.councilscienceeditors.org/jobbank/position_available.cfm

Bob asks…

Does anyone have legitimate ideas for my wife to work from home?

She does not want to sell anything. We have 2 young kids, so customer service postions really aren’t feasible because there would be noise in the background. We don’t want to pay any money because those are usually scams. Thank you for your help!

admin answers:

Here are my suggestions on finding a legitimate opportunity that’s right for YOU:

- Set your financial goals — Are you just looking for extra income or a potential full-time income? How long (and hard) are you willing to work to meet your goal?

- Determine if you are looking for a JOB or a BUSINESS — there is a distinct difference between the two and you want to focus your energies appropriately for the best results.

- If looking for a JOB, what are your marketable skills and previous experiences? If you are looking for a BUSINESS, go with your passions, things that interest and motivate you the most. Build a list and use that to begin your search. General rule of thumb: Never pay for a job (businesses, on the other hand, usually involve some expenses).

- Review your budget — know ahead of time what you are willing and able to invest into your business, including start-up costs and ongoing maintenance and promotion.

- Find a rep to contact, check out their websites, ask questions, do your own independent research.

- I personally also check out a company’s status and consumer feedback on www.bbb.org and www.ripoffreport.com

Hope this info helps, best wishes on your search…

Questions & Answers On Work From Your Home And Make Money

Mike asks…

Im looking to make extra money from working at home. Does anyone know of any legit work from home websites?

Im not looking for the ones with points, im looking for doing surveys and then recieving a check for the surveys i have completed. If u do know any, list on how it works from your own personal experience. Thank you

admin answers:

Surveys pay out, but if you’re looking to make a couple hundred dollars a month, not just a couple of dollars a month, you’re looking in the wrong place. You can invest the SAME amount of time and make at least TEN times the amount of money.

I was pretty happy when I discovered the following two sites. Check em out… They’re free and if you’re sitting in front of a computer for a few hours a day then they should work out for you too. Http://www.cashcrate.com/index.php?ref=157766 and http://www.mylot.com/?ref=erin77

Here’s one that may or may not pay out in the end, but it only takes about 2 min to sign up so I figured it was worth a shot. Http://www.agloco.com/r/BBBM4707

Mark asks…

Does anyone know about the survey.com or whatever it was, it’s said work from home or make money from home but

they asking you to pay $25.00 by paypall and deducted from your credit card and they will sent you the kit to start and you will earn more than $300 /day . Does anyone know about this ? i would like to join but i was scared if it was a scam

admin answers:

Check out http://scamsbeware.com – consumer resource center. All kinds of scam info there, there’s also a forum where u can keep up to date on current and future scams. And if u have any questions just post it in the forum and somebody out there should help u. Http://scamsbeware.com/forum Best of all it’s FREE 2 join, just register at the top it’ll be worth it for u to keep up 2 date on scams/fraud. Hope this helps.

Graham asks…

Can anyone tell me of a good website that you can make money from your home. Please no scams.?

My husband is sick and would like to work from home on the internet.

admin answers:

There are no j.o.b.’s on the net that can supplement your income. There are a whole lot of empty promises (scams) that will claim to help you in your situation. To be more direct in answering your question asking of a good website that you can make money from…. The only good and lasting website that you can make money from consistently is one that you have created and designed around peoples needs, wants, and desires. So, I would suggest that You along with your husband, create a website around your desires and learn how to position your website in front of others already searching for what you have to offer. I have been building websites around my interests without much investment of my money or web design experience. I have been learning through an awesome web host who has assisted me through each step. I would be happy to share more about building a business and a website through my experiences, if you wish to send me a message. You can also see my project through my Yahoo Answers Profile page. I hope this has helped to spark some ideas.

BEST WISHES!

admin answers:

Hi there, a lot of websites usually don’t pay you the amount you earned. View my website and see the list of sites that pays you through either alertpay, or paypal.
Thanks,

by the way we have This PTC pay to click, all you got to do is register in the websites listed on my site and once you’ve registered, you got to view ads for your own earnings, you get to earn like .01 bucks for every ad you view and 1 bucks for every referrals you’ve made. Questions & Answers On Work From Home Reviews

Don asks…

Can I claim my internet and/or electricity as tax expenses as a freelance writer?

I work from home reviewing computer-based video games for a living, and the articles are published online. I spend maybe 6 hours a day working on articles, so it goes without saying that without internet (or electricity) I could not do my job. Can I claim these things as expenses? And would I have to file form 8829 if I did, or could I just add them to my Schedule C?

admin answers:

Of course they are how you make your living. Without them you could not earn an income.

Charlie asks…

My boss just offered to let me work from home one day a week. Should this impact my asking for a raise?

I manage a small business and am the only employee. My boss has been kind enough to recently tell me that if I’d like to work from home on Friday’s I was welcome to do so. I jumped at the chance, and am very excited about it. With the type of business I’m in, I may only have
5 or so phone calls on my work from home day! So, to me I just was given an extra day off! But, I am due for a review and a raise in a few months. Last year, I was given a $1 per hour raise towards my $16 hr salary. Should I still ask for my annual raise? I really appreciate his offer, but I still need the extra money as finances are tight at home.

admin answers:

Absolutely not. This truly is not an “extra” day off as you are still expected to be available for work, just in a more relaxed atmosphere. It also shows that your boss trusts you and knows that you are reliable. I own my own business and know that if I didn’t trust an employee I would never offer up such a “flexible” work schedule with an employee I could not totally trust and I did not think did not truly deserve it. This is a “bonus” of sorts. But it shouldn’t stop you from getting a raise.
I would not be afraid when your review comes up to request another raise if you have continued to improve on your performance or at least kept your standards up.
Peace & Love :)

John asks…

Genuine ways to work from home and earn money working from home?

Does anyone know of any genuine reputable companies that employ home workers to do data input, telephone work (of a moral nature) market research, packing, anything that will result in a salary that allows me to earn enough to survive? any other ideas for home working also welcome. I had asked a similar question recently, but it was removed before i had a chance to review all the answers.
Many thanks. And a very happy new year to you all.
I forgot to mention i’m in the UK, perhaps there is a way to ensure only users in the Uk get to see this question, but i’m not sure how to do it, there’s a seperate question to ask…

admin answers:

Why not be a writer for your own blog? That way nobedy will scam you and you can earn a little bit of money while having fun.

Rachel asks…

How much free time do engineers and engineer technicians have away from work?

I am thinking about being an engineer or engineering technician for either mechanical or electronics, but I am afraid I won’t have much free time away from work. When I get out of the office (or site/plant) at the end of my shift, I want to do other things besides work. I don’t want to be at home reviewing charts or doing research for a project at work. I want to do other things like spending time with family/friends and exercising and playing sports. I would greatly appreciate any input. Thanks very much.

admin answers:

As a technician you have little to fear – techs generally have nothing to take home. There is a possibility of travel, night shifts, overtime, and the like, but you will generally get compensated for those and can usually leave those jobs to the ones who want them.

As an engineer it depends a lot on your specific role and temperament. I know guys who live their job, and others who clock out and check out at the end of the day. For most of us it is a 9-5 kind of job, with occasional bursts of overtime or take-home work. But realize that just about everything in engineering these days happens on a computer, and most companies are unwilling to pay for high-end laptops. As such, expect any unusual hours to occur AT work – when you are home you are done, have a beer.

Please note that as you advance as an engineer, especially into managerial roles, your hours, travel, and “take-home” work increase. If you stay the strict technical path things usually stay the same.
