I second HP Resource: Scam! These types of sites use the same cheesy format with the same cheesy, bullshit lines.

Read the FAQ. See this:

“In the past I’ve made well over $10,000 in a month writing articles but this doesn’t mean you will make as much.”

BULLSHEISA! Any writer worth their salt and with a few ounces of common sense knows it’s next to impossible to make $10k a month in writing. I’ve known some top notch journalists and writers and not one of them came close to earning this much in a month. It’s just not possible for any writer, especially article writers or copywriters.

Do yourself a favor and run from this immediately. I’m glad you have the common sense to not immediately fall prey to scams like this. They prey on inexperienced and/or naive writers who are eager to be paid to write and be published. I know how that feels but you have to be careful. Fortunately I’ve never fallen into their trap but I understand the temptation.

I wish you luck in your search. You’ll eventually find something that isn’t a scam.

Fired under HIPPA LAW & INSUBORDINATION – Can I be denied unemployment ?

I had been working with this company for 2 years and have been praised for my work and efforts. I was fired for “Insurbordination and Violatting a HIPPA Law”. I asked my partner if he wanted my job so bad, to just go ask my boss. My partner had been with the company for a year now and was making the same mistakes. I had brought the concern to my bosses attention. Learned that nothing would be done about it. In fact, I also learned thru my partner he was making more money then me. He was complaining that he wasnt getting paid enough to do the work he was doing. I was senior on the desk and helped the team reach goals, like never before. The company sent me to Vegas to meet my reps in person. Meanwhile, my partner was missing time for job interviews, he would come into work in a suit and tie and leave and come back after his interview. I said something to my boss about it, because when he leave, I have to do his work, in order to maintain our quotas. My boss told me that if I placed my resume on Career Builder, Id be fired. So, I tried to be professional about all of this and would constantly fix the mistakes that my partner would make or do his work while he did his homework, since he was going to school to better himself. When I brought the issues to my boss, there was really nothing done. I still had to pick up the work and I did, not for him, but for my reps and my team. I was in high hopes that if I kept doing it, maybe, Id be rewarded, My daughter was dx’d w/a rare disease. My boss called me while in the hospital with her and asked if I could come into work. My daughter is 3. Upon her discharge, I sent an email to all my managers requesting to work from home. You had to be employeed for 8 months and in Good Standing. In turn, I was handed Leave of Absence paperwork. I was told not to schedule her follow up visits on Mondays or on the first or last week of the month. Meanwhile, I was denied the opportunity to work from home. My mother had to care for my daughter, so, I could maintain benefits and a job. I was also written up for absences and placed on a 90 day probation. I got sick as the months change and my boss for the first time, asked that I not come in the office. So I listened but I did comment about my probation. Will this affect me ?? No comment was made. Just get well. So, I kept being a good sport, proactive worker and maintained the desk. Resolved the issues my partner for over 6 months or more. And I felt like it was time I was rewarded. I mean, I had the highest percentage in the division. I worked off the clock. And my reps knew that if it wasnt for me, they would have the business growing, that they did. I was overly stressed, juggling a sick child, and my partners absences for interviews and also to take his month to therapy at the end of each month, which would be the last week. That I am not allowed to take my daughter to her appointments. Yes his father passed away, but his mother could drive. My daughter is 3, and her heart was affected by Kawaski Disease. Wheres the passion ? So, I set up one evening, my review was coming and I wrote every issue that I had that could help make the desk more efficent. I scheduled a meeting with my boss and it didnt happen. Because I lost it. For so long, I have bit my tongue. And I really felt treated unfairly. My stress level was insane, and I was taking it out on my family. So, I got sick and when my boss sent me home those 2 days, I returned and my partner had made several mistakes. Patients were being held up for tx and my regional manager was questioning me. I sent an email to my partner, and said, I got it from here. Thanks for your help. I know how to fix these certain situations. He ignored me. So, I let my manager know he was resolving the issue. The patient was still not resolved a week later. Something I could have fixed in 24 hours. I was upset, so was my regional, sales rep, and patient. In turn I had that meeting scheduled just a few hours away. I lost it. I sent my partner an email and said you want my job so bad, just take it. He stormed in my bosses office and that was it. I was asked to change a spreadsheet of mine, I sent it to my fiance. Bcuz I couldnt believe my boss was asking me to change my template. Mine was so concise. And the one he sent me looked like someone who was inexperienced created it. And my fiance commented back, looks like our daughter did it. All that was on there was patients names and the order number for the system and what the reps needed to bill the order. In an IM to my support person, who became a friend, I was venting on her. I felt like my boss was making it real hard on me, like he was trying to get me to quit. I made some comments about my partner and how I felt as far as the company trying to sabotage me. The next day I came in and my boss gave my partner the option to work from home. I sent an email to my boss and w

They want you to give them your bank account name and routing numbers so they can empty it.

The length of the email is funny–so is the throwing around of 1960s-1980s computer phrases (and even one for diabetics). No US firm would name themselves “Mainframe communication” and then talk about you having a pc and internet access.

By definition, if it can be done on the internet, they don’t need you. Paper records (these don’t actually exist) can be scanned.

Bizarre references to logs and excel spreadsheets. General Ledgers aren’t done this way in real businesses.

Again an embedded reference to your cash:

Can I take my Ex-Employer to an employment tribunal?

I am a 21yr old single mum to a 2 year old and need some advice as to whether I have grounds to take my ex-employer to an employment tribunal as I have no understanding of how the legal system or where I stand in this situation? I will give as much details as i can in the hope that someone can offer me some advice. I apologise if this is really lengthy & descriptive but I just hope that by giving all the facts as I recall them, that someone can help me?
I have since found a new job which i am thoroughly enjoying and I do not want to hinder any success that I may have their by taking legal action on my Ex-empl, but i just feel that they way the whole matter has been handled is was completely unproffesional and simply wrong; It has really affected me and been stressing me out for some considerable time. After hearing other peoples views I am left thinking that maybe something could/should be done about it??

Last november I started working for a small company on a fulltime contract with a 3 month probationary period. Everything went smoothly and after the review I was taken on as a permanent member of staff.
Shortly afterwards I began getting unwell (I was under hospital review for several underlying problems; one being a lump investigation & unexplained bleeding, another extreme sickness and tiredness and also pelvic pain (this we know was caused by underlying gynae problems) also some emotional difficulties as a result of the death of my son 3 years ago).
I had several weeks signed off sick by my GP and on my return I immediately requested that for a short period (literally that just that week) that I reduce my working hours to 9-1, until I was feeling better as we simply thought it was just a short bout of ill health. I intended to resume fulltime hours shortly after. My male boss agreed to this fully and offered me his full support in my personal ‘crisis’.
Prior to this point, my relationship with the Directors (who are also the owners & married may I add) had been very good, they were satisfied with my performance and I felt i was a valuable member of their small team. I was continued suffering with my illness and was still having to take some days off as sick as I couldn’t physically cope with work…. (my job was very very stressfull due to manning one busy dept, single handedly, to the extent even whilst I was off sick I was still doing some work from home so that there was minimal disruption to the company, late night emails were a regular occurance!) … I suggested to them I worked as many hours as possible on the days that I was feeling up to it to compensate for anytime i may have off, afterall; I needed the money. But I was told that I could not return full time until I could ‘prove i could be trusted’ (by the way, i was given a set of keys to the premises within a couple of weeks of starting for the company as they then felt i could be trusted). On this occasion both my MD’s collared me in our meeting room and quite literally told me to stop being a dramatic young girl, to grow up and get on with it. I was given two choices; commit to the job and be here 9-1 EVERY day or walk. I felt I was doing all I could in the circumstance and wanted to commit, they knew this and i did what i could. My female director (also mother to a young dependant and sufferer of similar gynae problems) told accept that nothing was actually wrong with me and ‘leave the elephant at the doorstep’ as she so put it, from then on our relationship soured very quickly and the atmosphere became very fraught, making me very very uneasy (as if I had to tread on egg-shells around her and be all ‘nicey-nicey’) and reduced me to tears on many occasion. I had been warned prior to starting for the company that she didnt like women working in her office (this came from a current & also an ex-employee) and I was beginning to think that maybe that was the case.
My health issues finally came to a head on 1st july and I had emergency surgery, firstly for appendicitis (this has been the underlying problem for the last few months) but also to clear up scar tissues. I was signed off work for two weeks post-op and returned to work at the first possible chance, (although I was still really hesitant as I felt so unwelcome by her).
As I was feeling so much better health wise I intended to return full time immediatley to really try and make a go of things, right the wrongs so to speak. Within minutes of arriving on the monday I was advised by my operations manager that they had taken someone else who was starting on that same day, he was to take my role and that I was to train him up and would then be moved into an alternative position. The male MD then said we were to be working together (confused… so was I!) Anyway, by this point I had really had enough and began searching for other work and was immediatley offered another position. I sat my male MD down and asked him whether they had any i

If that is the case, sadly they can let you go, as you’ve few Employment Rights when employed
under a year with a company.
Secondly you would have to have started Industrial Tribunal action if and when you feel you were suspended unfairly,or forced to resign

So sadly you have no recourse, but hold your head high, as you tried your best under very difficult circumstances

sacked for gross misconduct overpaid wages?

I was sacked for gross misconduct 5 months ago and am currently seeking to take my employer to court with regards to this. We use a system at work where we enter our time into internal computer system for the time we have worked, these times are checked by our manager and sent to HR where again these are checked by payroll before being paid for the previous month. Basically and im not sure how but i entered that i worked boxing day and new years day(no one in the company works these day) so i have obviously made a mistake. I did not recieve a payslip for this period(normally get them day before payment into our accounts) so i didnt notice and on the day my company paid my wages to me they rang while i was off sick to say i was suspended for what turned out to be 2 weeks. I have worked for my employer for over 5 years with no problems. in my final 6 months employment i became my mothers carer since notifiying them of this i had 3/4 disciplinary hearings one of which was about a complaint made against me which my manager had been given 6 months previously but they decided after 6 months to make a disciplnaye of it. I have also had a disciplinary for not using the system we write our hours to, many members of staff also have not been using this one for more than 2 years and i have not used it for over year. I obviously realised that my treatment and constant disciplinary was maybe more about the fact i was having long period of times off work due to my mother being unwell. They were very unsympathetic i requested to work from home on occasions i couldnt make it into work but this was refused even though colleagues in my team were allowed to. Eventaully after telling them this was discriminating they allowed me to. I raised a grienvance against my manager and hr dept regarding there treatment and also that whilst out with work my manger infront of fellow staff said that i was lying to him about the reasons i was having time off work which was very embarrassing with it being infront of my work mates. They asked in the greivance interview whether i would mind if they asked staff what my manager had said and i obvioiusly agreed that it would be fine to do so, after getting the response to the grievance i asked whether they had investigated the claims i made with the staff that were present but they to siad that there is no point because some will agree with me and some wont!! isnt that the point of the investigation? basically i want some advice if can be sacked for getting overpaid even though i made the mistake and surely the manager and payroll would have spotted this. my feeling is that they knew about it but didnt tell me and waited for me to be paid. im due to have a pre-hearing review shortly…i would appreciate any legal advice on this

Not much I can add to Tass’ excellent answer, GJ. You don’t really need legal advice for an Employment Tribunal, just a good argument and a strong case. And remember to challenge anything they assert that you disagree with or the judge will assume you agree.

To be honest, your case as set out here is not very persuasive. You can certainly be dismissed for GM for claiming money you were not due. A glimmer of hope might be if you say they should have had better systems and checks in place since it was obviously a mistake (you wouldn’t use such an obvious route if you were really trying to fiddle the system, would you?).

Tribunals are often not keen on dismissal for a first offence, especially if there is any doubt, but I fear that your previous episodes will not help you here. Sorry I cannot be more optimistic.
