Questions & Answers On How To Work From Home For Real

Susan asks…

Why is it so hard to find a real work from home job? And why are there so many scammers out there?

A job… It is what I want and what I need. But going out and looking in my community is not a very possible option right now. I get so excited every time that I see what claims to be a “legit work from your home job.” But every single time that I really look into what I find, it was either a rare offer for one person or a scam of some sort. How can these “businesses” live with themselves taking advantage of people like me who really need a job and are willing to work hard? And are there any real entry level work from home jobs in the US? … Something that actually pays you by the hour for the work that you do rather than just giving you a small commission if you are lucky enough to bring them a customer?

admin answers:

It really depends on what sort of skills you have. My dad has a computer and basically makes a very tough living (it is hard work) working from home. He does all this fancy IT stuff and designing and trying to win audit contracts etc. He does it. You pretty much have to work for yourself if you wanna work at home.

I would think that if you put an ad in the newspaper you would find a lot of people looking for opportunities to work from home.
Do you think that people don’t answer such ads because they think it’s just too good to be true. You’d have to find a way to convince them that this opportunity is for real.

Davina asks…

how can i work from home for real?

We receive thousands of emails each day about working from home, and i really would like to work from home. I’m looking for English-Arabic translation or vice-verse jobs, as well as editing, data entry, book keeping etc jobs.
I mean all websites ask for advance fees, but how can we be sure that once they take our money, we will get something in return!
Can anyone help with really good ways i can start working from home but without paying anything in advance cause i really can’t afford so…

admin answers:

Hi!

I work from home for few years now. The company is legit and has been on the market since 1999. They pay me every time – no issues! You can start for free and work whenever you have time.

But, if you decide to work from your home (online), you need somebody to show you what do you have to do, otherwise u will do too many unnecessary things.

I started on my own, and I was not making any progress for quite a while.

Anyway than I joined this program and I got really good sponsor. He showed me everything I needed to know. And now, I’m passing it forward… http://www.globaldomainsbiz.org

Ken asks…

Are there any REAL work from home jobs that don’t make you pay first?

Does anyone actually KNOW and by know I mean does it themselves or is best friends/immediately family with someone who does it for a living and makes substantial money…? I’d love to know if there is actually one that didn’t make you pay them $100 for a book about how to like sell property in Aruba or something. I am the ultimate skeptic about this, but am a stay-at-home-mom who’d really like to find something that’s for real to do…

admin answers:

Yes. There are about a million – legitimate -suggestions to this on Yahoo Answers, which is your question. It would be redundant to repost everything here.

Mixed into each one of these answers are some of the same folks who are trying to get you to spend money. The scam is basically that they stay at home, looking for folks like you to pay them money to work at home, then, you do the same.

Good luck!

Mandy asks…

How do you discourage a local friend from inviting himself over to your home or just dropping by?

I think this person is great, and I value his friendship. However, I am very busy and I work out of home. This friend has a habit of calling and making “spontaneous” requests to stop in for a glass of wine. I always thought it was rather rude to invite yourself to another person’s home? Any ideas on how I can delicately navigate this awkward situation without alienating my acquaintance ?

admin answers:

Tell him sweetly that you have a pile of invoices to type (or whatever you do) and ask if you can call him later to set up a good day to meet for lunch.

Child care is a huge demand these days. It would be a great

choice for you, if you were up to looking after other people’s

kids for a few hours every week. It brings in extra money and you

can stay home wit.h your child. You don’t sell anything either.

And parents would jump all over the teacher fact too.

I would suggest, however, that if you were to jump that route, to

take a Preparation to Home Child Care course, usually offered at

a local child development centre or child drop-in centre, and to

also have a written contract to protect yourself, the parents,

and the children in your care. As a liability, add liability to

your home insurance. That way if a child were to be injured, and

the parents sue, you don’t pay a ton of money.

Ken asks…

What do you do to work from home?

I have three children (ages just 5, 2 1/2 years, and 4 months). I would love to babysit in my house, but nobody seems to want to have a sitter outside of their homes. What do you to make some extra money from home? Thanks for your ideas?

admin answers:

I work FT from home as a technical writer. I’ve known others who have their own online business or sell stuff on eBay. You can also do web design, or work for the search engine, chacha.com. Some publishers will pay you $3-$5 per page to edit a manuscript.

Check out the work-at-home-mom’s website, http://www.wahm.com for ideas and leads.

Good luck!

Edit: Angel, you can do a search for “freelance manuscript editing” and get a bunch of online companies that frequently hire freelance editors. Check out this site for starters: http://www.councilscienceeditors.org/jobbank/position_available.cfm

Bob asks…

Does anyone have legitimate ideas for my wife to work from home?

She does not want to sell anything. We have 2 young kids, so customer service postions really aren’t feasible because there would be noise in the background. We don’t want to pay any money because those are usually scams. Thank you for your help!

admin answers:

Here are my suggestions on finding a legitimate opportunity that’s right for YOU:

- Set your financial goals — Are you just looking for extra income or a potential full-time income? How long (and hard) are you willing to work to meet your goal?

- Determine if you are looking for a JOB or a BUSINESS — there is a distinct difference between the two and you want to focus your energies appropriately for the best results.

- If looking for a JOB, what are your marketable skills and previous experiences? If you are looking for a BUSINESS, go with your passions, things that interest and motivate you the most. Build a list and use that to begin your search. General rule of thumb: Never pay for a job (businesses, on the other hand, usually involve some expenses).

- Review your budget — know ahead of time what you are willing and able to invest into your business, including start-up costs and ongoing maintenance and promotion.

- Find a rep to contact, check out their websites, ask questions, do your own independent research.

- I personally also check out a company’s status and consumer feedback on www.bbb.org and www.ripoffreport.com

Hope this info helps, best wishes on your search…

I’ve setup a website which describes the best methods to find a real work from home job. I only include links to genuine websites for data entry and work at home jobs.

If you need any more help please send me a private message on yahoo.

Others I’ve found which have been very useful:

http://www.elance.com/p/landing/provider.html (Data entry and home office type jobs)

http://dataentry-jobsearch.blogspot.com/

http://www.guru.com/pro/index.aspx (mainly IT and Admin jobs)

http://my-data-entry.blogspot.com/

Don asks…

Does anyone work from home as a data entry or secretary?

I would definitely like to know real stories of someone that works from home and makes any kind of money. How is it that it’s possible? How does it work? If you have been scammed, I would like to know how that happened. I would like to make some extra money on the side and still have time to spent with my family.

admin answers:

Another legitimate Work at Home company is LiveOps.com.
I am in the process of certification with the company. You are basically taking orders for people who call you, wishing to order items from informercials and the like. It has been featured on many TV shows and magazines. Go to LiveOps.com for more information.

FYI, it took almost 2 months from them to get back to me, from the time I submitted my application, to actually hearing from them. Also, if they contact you and are planning on hiring you, you are required to send in a $30 background check fee. This is because customers will be giving you their private information and credit card numbers. However, in most cases, you never want to pay ANY fees for a work at home job. LiveOps will only ask you for this fee after they have approved your application and voice test, and would like to hire you. Good Luck.

Ken asks…

What are some legitimate work-from-home on the computer jobs?

I have a friend that is pursuing online jobs to work from home, and I wonder if any of these are scams or for real. When answering, can you explain how you know this is a real job and not a scam – thanks.

admin answers:

Regular jobs involving computers or phones (telecommuting);
some are assembly/piecework.

What are some legitimate work-from-home on the computer jobs?

They range from:
sales, Information Technology support, medical coding & billing, transcription, mailings, “crafts” or other piecework assembly

Both larger and smaller companies are trying to decrease costs and overhead
by having you provide your own “office” and materials/supplies
provided they have a way to supervise the quality and quantity of your work

When answering,
can you explain how you know this is a real job and not a scam?

Red flags:
- if they ask you for any “up front” money
- if they ask for any information normally not on an employment application,
for instance your bank account or credit card information
- if it sounds too good to be true

Be careful,
many are scamming their “worker”s with low wages, up front fees, etc.

Some others scam their “customer”
sometimes leaving the “worker” on the hook legally
(when the authorities show up and close the operations down and start arresting people -
be very cautious about many “international” operations).
For instance, telephone boiler room operations selling products/services.

Research the product or service,
and be careful if you do not believe in it personally.

Figure out what you need to do in order to make a certain amount of money
and how they will judge your performance and compensate you for your work.

Most do not pay very well unless you are able to work independently and quickly.
I did transcription, typing, etc. In college for a penny a character,
I was very quick – so it paid well.

Many promise you can make “up to”
be realistic and figure out how hard you are likely to work
and what you are likely to make in return.

Caroline asks…

How can I work from home and not have to pay for any fees?

I am not able to work due to a broken foot. How can I work from home and not have to pay out money for fees.

admin answers:

I found a website which retails but also wholesale’s all of there products http://www.ezo3.com they are aussie and legit (but post worldwide) you can buy cheap from them and re-sell on. It’s an excellent way to start your own business and make excellent money.

Price’s are cheaper than any developing countries prices NO JOKE ( the chinese, bali, etc). I have been in business for a long time, they are the cheapest, very trustfull, and price’s are UNBEATABLE.!

Paul asks…

Do many accountants get to work from home?

I’m an accounting major and would love to work from home. I know it can’t be 100% of the time, but….

If you’re an accountant, let me know how many days (or hours) per week your boss allows you to work from home (even if it is zero)!

Thank you!

admin answers:

I work with accountants and they work long shifts, and then take work home. The only time they get to work a full day from home is if they stayed insanely late the day prior. All of this depends on the company that you will be working for.

Kirstie asks…

How can i work from home and earn money?

I was wondering if anyone knew a good website that is NOT a scam and can help me work from home. Like where i have to type or something? Im not lazy i just cant do much work outside because im pregnant and im sick and doctors say i have to rest alot during the day.

admin answers:

Start selling your unwanted stuff on ebay. When you get the hang of it you can offer to sell other people’s unwanted stuff on ebay.
All you need from them is what they would want to get for it, (when you are good you will tell them what they will get for it) take a photo of it then when it sells, go there, pay them the money keeping your cut then post the item off.

Helena asks…

How hard is it to work from home as a Medical Billing & Coding specialist?

I am currently going to college to do this and I would like to work from home. So how hard will it be and what all do you have to do to work from home.

admin answers:

It’s usually required that you have 3 years of on-the-job experience as a coder to work at home.
