Questions & Answers On How To Work From Home For Real

Susan asks…

Why is it so hard to find a real work from home job? And why are there so many scammers out there?

A job… It is what I want and what I need. But going out and looking in my community is not a very possible option right now. I get so excited every time that I see what claims to be a “legit work from your home job.” But every single time that I really look into what I find, it was either a rare offer for one person or a scam of some sort. How can these “businesses” live with themselves taking advantage of people like me who really need a job and are willing to work hard? And are there any real entry level work from home jobs in the US? … Something that actually pays you by the hour for the work that you do rather than just giving you a small commission if you are lucky enough to bring them a customer?

admin answers:

It really depends on what sort of skills you have. My dad has a computer and basically makes a very tough living (it is hard work) working from home. He does all this fancy IT stuff and designing and trying to win audit contracts etc. He does it. You pretty much have to work for yourself if you wanna work at home.

I would think that if you put an ad in the newspaper you would find a lot of people looking for opportunities to work from home.
Do you think that people don’t answer such ads because they think it’s just too good to be true. You’d have to find a way to convince them that this opportunity is for real.

Davina asks…

how can i work from home for real?

We receive thousands of emails each day about working from home, and i really would like to work from home. I’m looking for English-Arabic translation or vice-verse jobs, as well as editing, data entry, book keeping etc jobs.
I mean all websites ask for advance fees, but how can we be sure that once they take our money, we will get something in return!
Can anyone help with really good ways i can start working from home but without paying anything in advance cause i really can’t afford so…

admin answers:

Hi!

I work from home for few years now. The company is legit and has been on the market since 1999. They pay me every time – no issues! You can start for free and work whenever you have time.

But, if you decide to work from your home (online), you need somebody to show you what do you have to do, otherwise u will do too many unnecessary things.

I started on my own, and I was not making any progress for quite a while.

Anyway than I joined this program and I got really good sponsor. He showed me everything I needed to know. And now, I’m passing it forward… http://www.globaldomainsbiz.org

Ken asks…

Are there any REAL work from home jobs that don’t make you pay first?

Does anyone actually KNOW and by know I mean does it themselves or is best friends/immediately family with someone who does it for a living and makes substantial money…? I’d love to know if there is actually one that didn’t make you pay them $100 for a book about how to like sell property in Aruba or something. I am the ultimate skeptic about this, but am a stay-at-home-mom who’d really like to find something that’s for real to do…

admin answers:

Yes. There are about a million – legitimate -suggestions to this on Yahoo Answers, which is your question. It would be redundant to repost everything here.

Mixed into each one of these answers are some of the same folks who are trying to get you to spend money. The scam is basically that they stay at home, looking for folks like you to pay them money to work at home, then, you do the same.

Good luck!

Questions & Answers On Work From Home Reviews Of Work From Home Jobs

Chris asks…

Are there any other present or ex employees of Sallys Beauty Supply who are aware of being exploited? ?

I like many other employees, of this store do have a Cosmetology License, stopped doing Hair, due to worn out body parts etc.
I am finally out of there, it was the worst place I have ever worked!!! They take EXPLOITATION to a new level. I only took the job, because, it’s what was the best out of the other available options I had had at that time. Besides low… low pay, they allow others, coworkers. customers to accuse and abuse you, without any them having to substanciate any facts.
While its always good business to care for the customer, they could give a flying hoot about thier employees! I was one of the minority,as far as thier employees go, I spoke up about these abuse’s..I did it in a very tactful respectable manner etc…In one case, for example, there are no allowable coffee breaks and lunch hours are not a garuntee much of the time, even if your sick. They treated me as a machine, and took away my sick pay benefits, cut my hours as a result of being absent due to illness for 6 times in 18 months, most of which was flu, and I had always called in and supplied a sick note from my Dr.
After this I was bullied by my then boss, given more night hours than anyone else, which meant getting home from work at 1030pm. My reviews and raises disappeared and so on.
They totally ignored the fact that I covered for co-workers, worked 12 hour days when I did, when they fell sick and for the crappy pay, or that I came into work even after I was up all night with my kid at the emergency room at the hospital, who was very, very sick for a very long time and was at emergency on an average of once or twice a week for almost a year.
What baffels me is why the majority of thier employees stay there and never admit to anyone that counts and allow this to happen. I know about not wanting to rock the boat and passive agressive people, but this takes the cake.

Perplexed by the apathy of others here in Arizona?

admin answers:

These are hard economic times and many people are afraid to jeopardize even a crappy job because they are afraid they can’t find, or are unqualified for, a better one. You said it yourself: the best of available options. Meanwhile, since there is a surplus of workers in the job market, employers feel free to bully their employees because they know it will be easy to replace them. These are the kinds of abuses that I am afraid will continue if McCain and Palin get elected to the White House.

I hope you have a better job now and that your kid is better too. Try to encourage your kids to get all the education possible, so that they won’t have to endure what you have endured for their sake.

Come one, you must have some sense to think its odd to receive a job offer without even having spoken with them, let alone not haveing met with them.

Charlie asks…

Do you think this is fair or right for employer to act this way?

My husband has been out of work for a week because his boss sent him home last week with instructions to call him in a week to see if he will remain at his job. His boss has not returned any of his calls. My husband’s income is the only source of income we have to provide for our two children since I am a full time student. We greatly depend upon his income.
Upon the boss sending my husband home, he said it’s because he is too productive and he cannot believe that he can work like that. The other employees verify that he works hard and is the best at what he does. My husband tends to work at work and doesn’t “milk” the clock or the pockets of the companies that hire the boss’ company to do a job. My husband has been doing his job for 5 years with different companies and always gets great reviews because he gets the job done and gets it done safe (he has always been accident free). He often works 60 hours a week – just as all the other employees do – but unlike the other employees who dilly around on job sites and pull half the amount of loads that my husband does, my husband does not dilly around and uses his time to every advantage to get more done. There are days when the boss’ list is incredibly long and will require the employees to work from 7 am to 9 pm. On these days, which have been very often lately, my husband really likes to step it up and really work hard to get the list completed so they do not have to stay at work, working in the dark, driving at night, and so they can get home in time to get good sleep so they can get back up in the morning and be back to work at 6:30 am. The day my husband got sent home was the day after he completed almost triple the amount of work the rest of the employees got. The other employees were thrilled about this because otherwise they would have had to stay out until midnight to finish the job. Because of how much work my husband did, the employees got to clock out at the usual time. Plus, the business that hire the boss’ company are happy because the job is done and production is up. My husband has actually gotten the boss’ company work because he works for this company and they know the job will get done. Now, my husband is sort of being punished for working too hard – for getting the job done. Worse yet, the boss seems to be totally avoiding the situation by not returning calls. This seems really unprofessional and almost childish. It has left us uncertain about how we are going to pay our bills in the next few weeks since the company does not have sick or vacation time – every day that my husband is out of work, hurts us badly. There are not a lot of jobs in this area that pay nearly as well and I am actually thinking I need to drop out of school, put the kids in day care and go find work too.
I understand that the boss literally wants the employees to “milk” the clock so it puts tons of money in his pockets, but that does not seem to be ethically right to do all the time – nor does it allow these employees who are CDL drivers to get home in time to get good rest. They have to be at work at 6:30 am and often do not get home until 10 pm and they all work a rotating 5 day on 2 day off schedule.
Do you think the boss is being fair or professional? What do you advise?

admin answers:

If the employer wants to “milk” his customers for extra money and is disappointed that your husband is productive, then he is not a very good employer to begin with. A savvy employer would see him as someone who could get him MORE customers, not as someone who finishes his work too early and robs him of money because the current customers are satisfied too quickly.

Unfortunately, there’s not much he can do. If the employer wants to be an idiot, then he will just have to find another job. Is relocating an option? If he is such an excellent worker, then surely he can find another comparable job somewhere.

Good luck.

Absolute SCAM

Hewlett Packard does not offer ANY work from home jobs unless you have been employed by them for at least 3 years in an office job and the role is one that would allow you to telecommute

You are NEVER interviewed by email for any HP job. They have a very intensive interview process requiring at least 3 separate interviews at their office – with the HR manager, with your immediate boss and with the head of the department. You are also given computer proficiency exams at their office as part of the interview process depending on the position you are interviewing for

Jane asks…

How should I handle my concerns with my Dad’s healthcare provider?

My dad went in for a voluntary experimental surgery in March because of his history with strokes. Immediately after the surgery, while still in the hospital, he suffered the most severe stroke I’ve seen, short of the one that killed his cousin instantly. He was rushed into an emergency surgery, with only my mother’s consent. They should have asked me as my parents are not married and I’ve been assigned as his legal representative. But I would have consented.

It left him paralyzed on his left side, unable to talk, disoriented to his surroundings, and with little hope for recovery.

The doctor who proposed and performed the initial surgery who had been overseeing his care ever since his previous stoke, a month and a half before the surgery, seems to have lost interest since this experiment failed to prevent future strokes.

He spent two months in the hospital learning to swallow, regaining feeling on his left side, and trying to withstand sitting in a chair for half hour periods of time. As he became aware of his surroundings, his social worker approached us about his weak health and suggestions for a skilled nursing facility.

The idea was dreadful to me as I had sworn growing up that I would never let my parents be put in one of those awful places that I had watched my grandfather rot in. With the help of my aunt, a clinical psychologist, and my uncle, an attorney (both from out of state), I found a location that had a 4 out of 5 star rating from the department of health and human services, was close to home, took his state issued insurance, would accept him despite his declining condition, and even went so far as to talk about nothing but his recovery and eventual return home. After reading reviews and contacting social services, and doing all the homework I could imagine doing prior to placing a loved one in their care, I made arrangements for my father’s transportation.

First thing that happened was that my dad went from swallowing on his own back to needing a feeding tube again. He then started to get better. He tries harder when my 6 month old daughter, who he named, is present and so I try to bring her before and after work every day.

Then he caught pneumonia. You would think this would be fine in a medical facility, but they couldn’t get the right iv in him and they sent him to the very hospital where his mother had died from pneumonia 20 years ago. (I might add that I made extra efforts to keep him out of the nursing home his father had died in) The hospital noticed that he had severe bedsores in areas generally covered by his minimal clothing. So severe they delayed his return and contacted adult protective services.

I haven’t said anything to the nursing staff about my concerns. I don’t want him to be treated badly when I’m not around if they sense problems. The staff is very friendly when I’m there, the patients (including my dad) seem very happy. Those who can be active, are active. I can’t imagine that they’re simply not doing their job of moving him around to prevent bedsores. Shouldn’t the movement of being in a chair for an hour a day and out to physical therapy twice a day alone be enough to prevent bedsores?

My dad is incapable of speaking for himself. I am his voice. But he smiles when asked if he’s happy there and seems satisfied that he stays until he can go home. His only gripe is he can’t see the baby until he’s past the pnuemonia.

I feel like he’s been abandoned by the doctor who started all of this and isn’t getting quite the care he needs where he is. Should I look into finding where I can move him? Would moving him be a good idea at this stage? He’s 3 miles from me and I pass him on my way to and from work every day so as it is, I can keep an eye on him. What should I be looking for? What questions should I be asking so as not to seem like I don’t think they’re doing their job?

admin answers:

So sorry to hear about your dad’s decline in health. It is great that you are his voice and involved in his life, to ensure he is receiving the quality of care and the quality of life he deserves. One of the most important factors in nursing home care is family involvement. Because you are his ears and eyes and see and make observations about not only your dad’s care, but you have made observations of how staff interact with residents…as well as that residents appear happy.
Factors to think of when moving loved ones to different nursing homes:
1. How is the nursing care?
2. How do staff treat the residents, and how do staff respond to residents?
3. Is the nursing home close enough that nursing home staff know you could walk in the door at any moment?

Since it looks like the hospital called adult protective services, the state agency will be investigating the nursing home to determine whether the nursing home failed to provide appropriate care to treat and/or prevent your dad’s pressure ulcers (bedsores). Nursing home inspectors will look at the following:Assessments that show what your dad’s skin condition was when he was first admitted to the nursing home from the hospital. They will review whether he had pressure ulcers when admitted to the nursing home. They will look at what interventions the nursing home put into place to promote the healing of his pressure ulcers (if he had them upon admission) AND they will look at what the facility is doing to reduce the risk for further development of pressure ulcers. The nursing home should have a care plan for your dad’s pressure ulcers, to include interventions like frequent repositioning throughout the day; specialized mattress; specialized wheelchair cushion; the Registered Dietitian should have completed an assessment to ensure he is receiving adequate tube feeding to address his nutritional needs. Nutrition impacts the body’s healing process with pressure ulcers.

-The next time you visit, check out his mattress to see if it is specialized or if they have a specialized mattress cover on it. If he does not have one, you can request that you would like physical therapy to assess him for a specialized mattress and wheelchair cushion to help him since he cannot reposition himself. You seemed concern that you don’t want to appear to the nursing home that they are not doing their jobs, in looking at what to say or what questions to ask. One way you could go about this is the next time you go in, to speak with the DON. You could say something along the lines of…..”This is so new to me….nursing home care, and my dad’s stroke and his health has been of great concern to me. I am interested in learning about what type of things he is doing in speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy…as we are hoping he can go home. I know he has some pressure sore issues….what type of pressure ulcers does he have*, and will this impact his ability or time frame that he could home? What type of medications is he currently on? How does his pain seem to be? Can we schedule a time where a nurse or you could go over his medical condition and what the physician treatments are?”

You could also stop CNA’s you see and say “how is dad doing today”? From my experiences, the CNA’s are the ones providing most of the care and they appreciate being asked about how residents are doing. Caring CNA’s are honest and want what’s best for residents too. If you have not met his physician, after meeting with the DON……any further questions you may have as well….you could also give the physician or his nurse a call about your dad’s medical condition, treatments, etc as well.

*Pressure ulcers are staged: Stage I, Stage II, Stage III, Stage IV and unstable. The worst pressure ulcers are Stage IV or covered with necrotic tissue….these take longer to heal. Hopefully his pressure ulcers are at an early stage where they can get him healed quickly.

If you want to learn a little on the federal regulation requirements regarding F314 (Pressure Ulcer care), I am adding the link to Appendix PP (Guidance to Surveyors). You should be able to click on §483.25(c) in the index and that should take you to the regulatory requirements for care.

Best wishes, and I hope your dad is successful with all of his rehab and in being able to move back home!
